Title: Amend Article IV Section 5 of the Constitution of the Department of Tennessee

WHEREAS, The National Executive Committee of The American Legion passed Resolution 5, Officer and Chairman Certification of Service on May 9-10, 2018; and
 
WHEREAS, The American Legion, Department of Tennessee is currently amending its Constitution to align with the national organization; and
 
WHEREAS, All officers, elected or appointed in The American Legion, Department of Tennessee shall provide leadership in verifying their membership eligibility; now, therefore, be it
 
RESOLVED, by Post 254, The American Legion, Department of Tennessee, in a regular meeting assembled on September 5, 2019, That Article IV Section 5 of The American Legion, Department of Tennessee Constitution shall read; "It shall be required that any officer, elected or appointed in The American Legion, Department of Tennessee will, within 30 days, provide satisfactory evidence of honorable military service providing eligibility for membership in The American Legion as follows:
  1. Eligibility for American Legion post officers will be certified by their Adjutant with notification to the Department Adjutant.
  2. Eligibility for American Legion department officers will be certified by the Department Adjutant with notification to the National Adjutant."
 
This is to certify that the above resolution was adopted by Sgt. Donnie E. Horton American Legion Post 254 on September 5, 2019.
